Blood donations in Bradford have dropped because of the hot weather and England’s success in the World Cup, according to NHS Blood and Transplant.

On normal warm weather days, blood donations have often been around five to ten per cent down on what was forecast.

There is an urgent need for people with the valuable O negative group to donate in Bradford over the next few days as stock levels are currently low.

Mike Stredder, Director of Blood Donation for NHS Blood and Transplant, said:“If you are O negative and you can give blood, please donate now. We have around 75 appointments available at Bradford donor centre over the next few days."

People can also walk in and donate without needing to make an appointment.

The blood donor centre is located at at Kenburgh House, 28a Manor Row.
