A WORLD Cup-themed parade will take place in Baildon at the weekend.

The procession will be part of the Baildon Carnival, on Saturday, July 14.

Ann Foster, committee member, said: “A World Cup theme was suggested and it seemed appropriate because the final takes place the day after the carnival.

She added: “The theme is optional and our main aim is to attract as many different groups along to participate.

“We have had interest from groups representing the countries taking part in the World Cup, using the different colours of the flags.”

Matthew Wildman, chair of Baildon Carnival Committee, said: “It has taken a lot of hard work and organisation but I’m delighted we are going to be able to put on the procession this year.”

The carnival is in the grounds of Baildon Rugby and Cricket Club on Jenny Lane from 2pm. To join the walking procession, assemble at 1pm in the lower half of Ian Clough car park for departure at 1.30pm.
