PUPILS at a Pudsey school have taken part in once-in-a-lifetime science lessons focused on astronomy.
Researchers from the University of Leeds visited Fulneck School, and gave children the chance to handle priceless samples of moon rocks and meteorites.
The items loans to the school by the Science and Technology Facilities Council included a 1.2-billion-year-old rock from Mars and a piece of a nickel meteorite 4.3-billion-years-old.
Dr Caroline Neuberg, head of science at Fulneck, said: “Thanks to our friends at STFC pupils have had the chance to see and even touch these important fragments of science history.
“My sincere hope is that this amazing experience will encourage students to become the next generation of astronomers.”
The lessons were the latest in a series of science workshops held at Fulneck this year.
