A Bradford man has been jailed for 19 years after being found guilty of multiple child sexual offences.

Andrew Britton, 47, from Thornton Road, was found guilty of 16 non-recent historic sexual offences, including rape of a girl under 13, and sentenced at Bradford Crown Court.

He was sentenced to 19 years for the rape offence with an extra year on licence. Britton was sentenced to 84 years in total for all 16 offences, with the other sentences set to run concurrently alongside the rape sentence term.

The offences were committed between 2005 and 2011 against three females, two of whom were then aged under 13.

Police investigations began in 2016 after officers received information. DI Alan Weekes, of Bradford District Child Safeguarding, said: “We welcome the substantial sentence given to Britton for some appalling offences against young and vulnerable victims.”

“He compounded the awfulness of what he did to his young victims by then putting them through the ordeal of a trial and that has been reflected in the sentence he has received.

“We are absolutely committed at Bradford Police to helping victims of non-recent offences seek justice and to removing clearly dangerous men such as Britton from our communities.

“I can promise all victims that reports will always be investigated and we will do all we can to seek justice for them.”
