THE Broadway shopping centre is encouraging people to donate food to help those in need.
Shoppers are encouraged to donate any non-perishable food items from June 25 until July 22. The drop-off point at The Broadway is located by the Customer Services desk.
Ian Ward, General Manager at The Broadway, said: “No one should ever have to go without food and we’re asking anyone who has the means to donate, to come along to the centre and contribute. Items we’re collecting include non-perishable food items such as cereal, soup, pasta, rice and tinned foods. We’re always overwhelmed by the generosity of our shoppers and we’re hoping that this appeal will help to make a real difference to any families struggling across Yorkshire.”
It comes in response to figures showing that one in five families in the UK lives below the poverty line.
