A FIRE broke out earlier this morning in the basement of a shop that had no smoke detectors fitted.
Fire crews attended the blaze at the property on Waverley Avenue, Bradford at 6:50am this morning.
There is living accomodation above the retail premises.
20 per cent of the four storey building was involved in the fire with one occupier rescued from the flat by crews.
The individual was checked over by parademics and was later transported to hospital after suffering from the effects of smoke and shock.
Appliances from Bradford and Fairweather Green attended the fire where crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, and high pressure fans to extinguish the flames and remove smoke from the building.
Persons have been reported.
