PLANS to turn a vacant toilet block in a village centre into a shop have been refused by Bradford Council.
The scheme to re-use the long empty toilets on Keighley Road, Harden, had been submitted by Dill Butt.
The application described the building as a "redundant overgrown eyesore" and said the new business was likely to be a hairdresser's salon or dog parlour, something likely to only attract "a couple of customers at a time."
Harden Parish Council had objected to the plans, saying there was a lack of parking for potential customers in that area.
Bradford Council planning officers agreed, saying: "The proposed development fails to provide any parking and will result in indiscriminate parking taking place on double yellow lines on a bend and/or at a busy junction close to a mini roundabout likely to result in conditions prejudicial to highway safety."
