A CREW commander has picked up an award for her long term work with The Fire Fighters Charity.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service's Sarah Goodall, who works in the control room, won The Supporter of the Year gong at the charity's Spirit of Fire Awards in London, recognising her long term support of the charity, both in terms of fundraising and in raising awareness of the services it provides.

The Fire Fighters Charity’s Spirit of Fire Awards recognise the support and dedication of firefighters and fire and rescue service personnel from across the UK.

Dr Jill Tolfrey, chief executive of The Fire Fighters Charity, said: "Sarah is a worthy winner.

"As a volunteer service co-ordinator, a company member and a home visitor for the charity she works tirelessly to organise an array of fundraising events each year, including summer galas and annual fireworks displays."
