A TEAM of four friends who drove to Benidorm and back in an old Volvo have made it back to Blighty and are already planning next year's trip.

The quartet of Paul Wilson, 42, from Idle, who runs LEJ Property Solutions, Steve Gill, also from Idle, who works for Farsley Transport, and Wyke men Neil Cox and Robert Crombie who work for Wells Service Group had taken part for the first time in the annual Benidorm or Bust event which requires entrants to drive to the Spanish resort in a banger or classic car, and raise money for a good cause at the same time.

The four were raising money for Will's Way, a charity set up on the name of young Stanningley rugby player Will Barker who was diagnosed with a grade 2 brain tumour two years ago when he was 15.

"We set off at midnight on Tuesday, June 12, taking turns driving to Benidorm.

Two of the group had to be back at work on Tuesday so they flew back on Monday and Steve and I drove back.

"The experience was awesome and Steve is already talking about doing it again next year.

"The car did well. She got us there and back with no mishaps, though she did struggle up some of the hills.

"We're not sure yet if we will use the same car if we do it again. We may start again with another.

The team was sponsored by by LEJ Property Solutions, Farsley Transport, Ace of Vapes and WH Signs. They were also given a donation from LCF Law.

The team hoped to raise £500 but the total stands, with gift aid at almost £700. They have some more donations to collect and expect the total to be nearer £1,000.
