Several cars were damaged when an air pistol was fired at vehicles parked along a street in Bradford.

The incident took place on Harlow Road in Lidget Green, with three balaclava-clad males identified within CCTV footage from the scene, according to police.

One of the males is believed to have used an air pistol to cause the damage.

Police confirmed they were called to the scene at around 8.30pm last Wednesday to reports of damage to vehicles, where they also carried out reassurance visits to residents.

A witness said people wandered out of their houses after seeing a commotion outside.

A neighbour said around seven or eight cars had been damaged, some which had their windows smashed as part of the incident.

The witness said the suspected perpetrators are known to people on the street as being violent and that they were suspected of torching a neighbour’s car previously.

They added that they’d contacted the police and council about the incident because of the worry that someone was carrying a gun and could potentially fire it at people.

One person who lives on the street, but wished to remain anonymous, said: “People are obviously scared and anxious wondering why they are being targeted and do not feel supported by the police.”

Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector Shelley Slarke, said: “The inexcusable actions of these individuals have understandably generated some concern among local residents and left behind what will be significant vehicle repair costs.

“This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated, and I would call on anyone who knows those behind this latest incident to get in touch immediately.”

Enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible. Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact the non-emergency number 101 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.People can also use the live chat facility on the Contact Us section of the West Yorkshire Police website.
