Odsal stadium will host its very own Super Sunday this weekend with a sporting extravaganza that will take in the World Cup, sandwiched between two big rugby games.

Bradford Bulls’ organisers will build on the success of their last-minute stand-in to screen England’s first World Cup game against Tunisia on Monday by hosting a festival of live sport this Sunday.

Odsal will show two live sport’s matches on a 21sqm screen to begin the day.

The schedule begins with a screening of the State of Origin Rugby League match live from Sydney followed by England’s second group game against Panama at 1pm, with a win potentially seeing them through to the last 16 if the Belgium-Tunisia fixture goes their way.

Bulls Commercial Director, Damian Irvine, told the T&A that they’d actually taken the decision to push-back the Bulls’ kick-off on Sunday in order to show the full England game.

The Bulls fixture against Doncaster will take place at 4pm instead.

Mr Irvine is excited for the prospect of Sunday’s event and emphasises that summer is all about these kind of community events.

He said: “The key take out from the first England game here on Monday was the great range of ages and variety of people who came along to cheer on the national side live. It’s incredibly important to get together for events like this.”

This festival of sport also comes on a day that is set aside for commemorating and celebrating all current and former Armed Services personnel.

Organisers will mark Armed Services Day with members of the 2nd Yorkshire Regiment providing a guard of honour before the kick-off, with former paratrooper Ben Parkinson, who lost both his legs in Afghanistan, presenting the match ball.

Mr Irvine said: “The screen, depending on the weather, will be facing the terraces this match as the forecast is for a hot summers day. The viewing will be very good and the sound will be turned up, we expect an even better atmosphere this weekend.”

Organisers are ensuring the event is available to all by putting on a special promotion for anyone who turns up before 1pm.

World Cup fanatics who came to the England game on Monday will get in for free before the deadline.

Anyone else who gets there before 1pm can save 50 per cent on standard admission and get a ticket for a tenner.

Armed forces personnel, old and new will be able to get in for free all day.
