ATTENDEES at a Bradford beer festival will be raising a glass in memory of their founder.

Baildon Cricket Club's Beer and Gin Festival, which is being held from June 22-24 at their Jenny Lane headquarters, will be remembering Simon Heginbotham.

Simon, 52, who also founded and ran Saltaire Live, lost his 20-plus year battle with depression last April.

The first pint on Friday, June 22 (6pm) will be pulled by Simon's brother Rob, and proceeds from the raffle will go to MIND to help raise awareness of mental health.

The festival opening times are 6pm-11pm on Friday, June 22, noon-late on Saturday, June 23, and 10am-6pm on Sunday, June 24.

There will be a barbecue on all three days and a raffle and live music (from Black Ice on the Friday and Tom O'Neill on the Saturday) on the opening two days.

Cricket matches will also be held on the Saturday (first team v Hunslet Nelson, Bradford League) and Sunday (under-15s v Keighley, Bradford Junior League; third team v Thornbury, Dales Council League).

Bacon sandwiches will be available on the Sunday when another attraction is the England v Panama World Cup soccer match.

Meanwhile, Partners Brewery have provided a fully-cooled bar and there will also be a new Moretti Lager pump.

There are still opportunities to sponsor a barrel of beer (£75) or a bottle of gin (£50) and/or to donate a raffle prize.
