TWO fire engines were called to a city centre office block this afternoon.

West Yorkshire Fire was alerted after a fire alarm went off at the Howard House building which houses several businesses.

A witness saw two fire engines parked on the corner where Broadway meets Bank Street, at around 12:16pm.

Staff members from offices in the building were evacuated, but returned at around 12:31pm.

Another witness saw a fire crew member leaving Howard House as staff returned.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire said it had been a false alarm.
