MORE than 20 groups and organisations around Bradford are planning to raise a cuppa to the NHS as it turns 70 on July 5.

Departments at Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke’s Hospital have also signed up to take part in the NHS Big 7Tea – the charity event to mark NHS70, which will raise money for NHS charities.

Bradford Hospitals’ Charity is calling on more organisations around Bradford to get involved.

Schools, libraries, GP surgeries or even just groups of friends can register for a fundraising pack, which includes charity bunting and posters.

Hayley Collis, head of fundraising for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, said: “This is a fantastic way to celebrate the NHS, while raising money for your local NHS charity."

She added: “We work in partnership with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to fund specialist equipment, training and research. Our charity provides over and above what is funded by the NHS, enabling the Trust to buy better quality to improve the patients’ experience."

A Great Bradford Bake Off cake competition has also been organised as part of NHS70 celebrations, to raise money for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity.

It will be held at the BRI on Tuesday, July 3, and will be judged by Great British Bake Off contestant Sandy Docherty.

BTHFT will also be celebrating the NHS70 on July 5 with a special lunch for people born in 1948 and former staff who worked at that time.
