GROUPS from across the district came together today for the Hope not Hate celebration of Bradford Togetherness.

The event included stalls, performances and entertainment, as well as food from across the world to taste.

West Yorkshire Police, the fire service and paramedics were also in attendance.

Paul Meszaros, Regional Organiser of Hope not Hate, said: "It's to celebrate Bradford, it's to celebrate all the different communities in Bradford and the way that we are all able to come together.

"We think there's a strength in Bradford. We just want to showcase that there's so many different people in Bradford.

"Let's get together, let's have a bit of a party and celebrate that."

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Bradford Council's leader, said: "Hope not Hate have done quite a lot of work in previous years to bring people together and show that actually we have got a lot in common.

"As Jo Cox said, we've got more in common than what divides us, and therefore it's good to remember that."

Bradford East MP Imran Hussain was also in attendance, along with Bradford South MP Judith Cummins.

Mr Hussain said it was a "fantastic" event where people were coming together in pride from across the district.

"It's great to see Bradford, here together, celebrating our diversity," Mrs Cummins said.
