A MAN has been charged with soliciting to murder by counter terrorism police over the Punish a Muslim letters, some of which were circulated in Bradford.

David Parnham, from Lincoln, was arrested earlier this week as part of an operation run by Counter Terrorism Policing North East.

The 35-year-old has been charged with 14 offences, and is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court in London today.

He has been charged with two counts of soliciting to murder by sending the 'Punish a Muslim Day' letters earlier this year, encouraging one or more of a number of offences, believing these offences will be committed, and his act would encourage these offences to be committed.

He has also been charged with five counts of sending a substance with the intention of inducing in a person a belief that it is likely to contain a noxious substance and thereby endanger human life or create serious risk to human health, and five counts of sending a number of letters conveying a threat intending to cause the recipient of the letter distress or anxiety, and one charge of a bomb hoax.

A statement from Counter Terrorism Policing North East said: "We remain grateful for the discretion and support we have had from victims as we try to minimise any further impact of any offensive communications.

"Now that someone has been charged we request that people are mindful of anything they post online to avoid comprising the prosecution process in any way.

"Those affected by hate crime can rest assured that we and our partners take such investigations extremely seriously and are avidly committed to seeking justice in all circumstances."
