A DRUG driver has been arrested for multiple motoring offences after leading police on a ten minute pursuit and trying to hide in a bush.

A car being driven by the man was spotting in Crosshills, Craven, and failed to stop, leading to a ten minute car chase.

The two occupants then jumped out of the car in the Millennium Business Park in Steeton and tried to flee.

Traffic Constable David Minto chased the driver down, receiving assistance from the police helicopter, and found the male driver hiding in undergrowth after climbing over a large fence.

Police checks found the car had been stolen from an address in Keighley several days ago.

The man was arrested for this and multiple driving offences, and also tested positive for cannabis and cocaine by the roadside, and is in police custody.

Enquiries to locate the female passenger are ongoing.

Traffic Constable Minto said the arrest was "a very satisfying end to the shift", and "the driver is now in the custody of West Yorkshire Police and will likely remain so for some time".
