A GROUP of women from Bradford have been flying the flag for the city in a national march to celebrate 100 years of women’s suffrage.
Processions was a mass participation event taking place simultaneously across the four UK capitals on Sunday.
It called for groups across the UK to create banners for the four marches, and Bradford based arts group The Brick Box was one of 100 groups chosen to take part.
Artist Jean McEwan ran a number of workshops with Bradford women in recent weeks to design and create the banner.
The finished piece, which reads “Bradford grows powerful women” was paraded through the streets of London by a group of 15 women from the city at Sunday’s event.
It will also go on display at Bradford Festival next month.
Produced by Artichoke and commissioned by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, Processions was organised to celebrate one hundred years since the first British women won the right to vote.
