THE University of Bradford has scored high for its research in new international rankings.

The U-Multirank rankings compare the performances of higher education centres and enables comparisons at the level of the university as a whole and at the level of specific fields of study.

The Bradford is in the top ranking for interdisciplinary publications, publications with industry, publications cited in patents, international academic staff and international joint publications.

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Brian Cantor, said: “As a world-leading technology university we pride ourselves on our cutting-edge research and international collaborations. To feature in the top grading in multiple categories, including interdisciplinary publications and publications with industry, shows the impact and influence our research is having across the world.”

Examples of some of Bradford’s international collaborations include a study describing a novel, combined therapeutic and diagnostic approach in glioma (a type of tumour), with Stanford University in the US and research on how a single protein can affect how we make new memories with Georgia State University.

The University also has a strong record in interdisciplinary publications with a published paper on grief and bereavement in the treatment of skulls from the Neolithic Middle East. This research looks at the bereavement process and how archaeology can help better understand it. Another multidisciplinary project was the analysis of Egyptian mummies and their research potential, this saw experts from archaeology and chemistry join forces.

Based on empirical data U-Multirank compares institutions with similar institutional profiles and allows users to develop their own personalised rankings by selecting indicators in terms of their own preferences.
