EIGHT "up-and-coming" acts will battle it out tonight for the coveted prize of performing alongside pop and rock royalty at this year's Bingley Music Live.

Each act will perform in front of a panel of judges to be crowned winner of the Emerging Talent Competition, with the final starting at 7pm at The Exchange on Russell Street in Keighley.

The eight bands are competing for one of two slots on the Main Stage and one of two slots on the 2nd Stage at the Bradford Council-run festival, being held at Bingley’s Myrtle Park from August 31 to September 2.

The acts chosen for the final are Pretty Little Somethings, The Light Show, Ian Bareham, Glue, Ego Stages, Sauce, Critical Reaction, and Kilnsey Green.

Michael Watmough, from The Exchange, said: "We've had an amazing four heats with some real top talent. The final has eight acts that are genuinely exciting and some of the best unsigned talent Yorkshire has to offer.

“The Emerging Talent competition is such an important event for the local music community and brings musicians together in a very positive way. We're excited for the final showdown!"

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for environment, sport, and culture, said: "This contest is a real opportunity for local up and coming acts to perform on a bigger platform and gain a wider following and the level of talent entering this competition keeps on improving year on year.”

Headline acts playing Bingley Music Live this year are Noel Gallagher’s Highflying Birds, Shed Seven, Jake Bugg, Gomez, Public Image Limited, Melanie C, The Cribs, and many more.

Tickets for the 15,000 capacity event are reportedly selling fast, and can be purchased from Ticketline and the festival website www.bingleymusiclive.com.
