Travis Head’s 77 against his former county underpinned Worcestershire’s imposing 350-6 in today’s Royal London one-day Cup match at Emerald Headingley.

Their total was the second highest conceded by the Vikings in List A cricket, with Ross Whiteley’s brutal 66 not out doing late damage.

Powerful Australian left-hander Head hit six fours and a six in 94 balls after the visitors had been inserted by Steve Patterson.

He shared 108 for the second wicket with Joe Clarke (61) to advance the score from 14-1 and then 66 for the third with Tom Fell.

Yorkshire dragged things back, and when Head departed caught and bowled by Adil Rashid the Rapids were 220-5 in the 39th over, with their chances of reaching 300 in the balance.

But Whiteley, who hit six sixes in an over here in T20 cricket last year, and Ben Cox gave the innings some damaging late impetus.

They both reached quick-fire fifties in a century stand.

Rashid’s haul of 1-86 from his 10 overs was his most expensive return in List A cricket and Yorkshire’s second most expensive.

Whiteley hit nine fours and two sixes in 41 balls.
