STRIKE action planned for tomorrow at Bradford College has been suspended following positive talks over planned job cuts.
The strike, which was due to be carried out by members of the University and College Union, will now not go ahead after talks with the college regarding job losses.
Members have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action earlier this month in protest to plans to cut up to 75 jobs as part of a restructure, which were announced shortly after the college was issued with a financial notice to improve in March.
Following the talks, Bradford College has now announced it will reopen its voluntary redundancy scheme until this Friday, and has agreed to look at the best ways to redeploy staff at risk of redundancy.
Julie Kelley, UCU regional official, said: "We are pleased the college has listened to members’ concerns and agreed to rethink its approach to job cuts.
"We will continue to engage closely with the college to ensure staff are redeployed where possible, avoid compulsory redundancies and minimise the impact of restructure plans on staff and students."
