MATTHEW Dowse produced the best bowling performance of the season as Championship One leaders Morley recovered from being dismissed for 134 to defeat Hartshead Moor by 77 runs.

Dowse returned the stunning figures of 9-18 in an inspired 13.5 over spell which reduced bottom team Hartshead Moor to 57 all out.

Dowse claimed the first six wickets before skipper Oliver Halliday got in on the act. The deadly Dowse responded by removing the last three batsmen.

Dowse's performance overshadowed the earlier good work of former Yorkshire and Scotland seamer Iain Wardlaw. He took 5-30 as Morley's batsmen struggled. It was indicative of the low-scoring encounter that the top score on either side was the 25 extras Morley collected.

Morley are nine points ahead of Undercliffe and Wrenthorpe, who both recorded comfortable victories. Undercliffe overcame Yeadon by 146 runs, while Wrenthorpe triumphed by seven wickets at Gomersal.

Half-centuries from overseas player Khalid Usman (60no) and skipper Scott Etherington (51) were backed up by Gulsheraz Ahmed (43) as Undercliffe posted 239-5. Yeadon were soon in trouble as Craig Wiseman (4-30) and Usman (4-28) bowled them out for just 93.

An unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 94 between James Glynn (59no) and Mehran Ibrahim (44no) enabled Wrenthorpe to pass Gomersal's 186 all out with ease. Jack Seddon made 50 but his colleagues faltered as Jonathan Rudge took 5-57.

There was a thrilling tie in the game between Ossett and Baildon. Ian Philliskirk, the man who captained Baildon to their last Bradford League championship win in 2009, top-scored with 74 as Ossett made 232-8. Richard Whitehurst chipped in with 33 as left-arm spinner Mushtaq Ahmed took 4-55.

Baildon's innings was dominated by opener Jack Hainsworth, who is standing in as skipper while Jonny Reynolds is sidelined. He batted superbly to make 100, an innings laced with one six and nine fours, which helped his side to 232-9, despite the fine bowling of Ossett skipper Dan Busfield (5-73).

Bankfoot dropped into the bottom two after they suffered a 16-run defeat at home to Batley. The visitors were indebted to Usama Sacha (42no), Naik Zaida (39) and Naved Zamurad (35) for their total of 216. The former Yorkshire paceman James Lee took 4-51 for Bankfoot.

Jawad Waheed made a battling 55 for the home side but they fell short of their target as they were bowled out for 200. Hazaifah Patel (3-35) and Muhammad Shahnawaz (3-47) shared the bowling honours.

Pudsey Congs won a thrilling game with Hunslet Nelson which produced 592 runs. Any thoughts that Congs' total of 304-5 was unassailable were put to rest as Nelson made a spirited 288.

Mark Murphy led their reply with a fine 121 and he was joined in a fifth-wicket stand of 145 by Danny Cross who hit 91.

Congs had built their highest total of the season around the contributions of Ashley Slater (82), skipper Max Backhouse (70) and Barney Gibson (51no).
