KYME TAHIRKELI struck his maiden Bradford Premier League century as Bradford & Bingley defeated Cleckheaton by five wickets to register their first win of the campaign.

Tahirkeli struck seven sixes and 14 fours as he led his side's successful pursuit of Cleckheaton's 250-9 at Moorend in the Premier Division.

His runs came from 134 balls and enabled Bradford & Bingley to reach their target with eight deliveries to spare. Skipper Matthew Duce (40) was the other key figure in the run chase.

Defeat was hard on Cleckheaton's overseas player Tayyab Tahir (126) who had earlier made his second successive century. Once again he scored briskly, with his runs coming from just 86 balls as he hit eight sixes and 14 fours.

Farsley bounced back from their defeat at Scholes by inflicting a first league loss on leaders Hanging Heaton.

The champions, who were wearing black armbands as a mark of respect to their former chairman and groundsman Graham Ford who died on Friday, were soon in trouble when they batted first at Red Lane.

They slipped to 87-8 and only an unbeaten 42 from Josh Holling pushed their final score up to 164-9. Spinner James Logan again impressed for Farsley with 4-44.

Farsley's reply was spearheaded by Joe Greaves who made a welcome return after captaining the second team in the early weeks of the campaign. Greaves made 57 and ensured his side secured a four-wicket win.

Hanging Heaton's defeat enabled New Farnley to draw level with them on 63 points after they overcame Townville by 20 runs.

Simon Lambert took 5-23 and James Middlebrook (3-61) struck as Townville were bowled out for 194 in reply to New Farnley's 214-7. Townville made good early progress in their run chase through Jonathan Booth (50), Jack Hughes (42) and Brayden Clark (41) before losing their way.

New Farnley had built their total around the contributions of Martin Andersson (44), Joe Bedford (36) and Alex Lilley (35).

Pudsey St Lawrence are just a point behind the joint leaders after inflicting a 117-run defeat on bottom team East Bierley.

James Smith was at his aggressive best as he hit 69, an innings featuring six sixes, as St Lawrence compiled 233-8. Charlie Best (44) also contributed valuable runs.

East Bierley were all out for 116 when they replied. Opener Awaise Hussain made 31 but his colleagues struggled as spinners Steve Watts (4-35) and Tom Hudson (4-43) got to work.

Woodlands are just six points behind the leaders after their 38-run win over newly-promoted Methley. Opening bowlers Mohammed Bilal (4-56) and Elliot Richardson (3-44) struck the crucial blows.

Adam Patel, making his debut for Methley, top-scored with an unbeaten 65, in their 181 all out. Woodlands had earlier made 219 with Liam Collins impressing with an unbeaten 69. Marcus Walmsley was the pick of the bowlers with 4-59 while new overseas fast bowler Waqar Ahmed took 3-43 less than 24 hours after arriving in the country.

Scholes' hopes of a third win in a row were shattered at Lightcliffe where the home side had a comfortable seven-wicket win.

Openers Alex Stead (70) and Josh Wheatley (56) shared a partnership of 129 as Lightcliffe easily chased down 162-8.

Opener Asitya Waghmode (35) and Yasir Ali (33) were the top scorers for Scholes as spinner Josh Wheatley (4-34) kept them in check.
