Wedding fever's catching, and not everyone is happy to be infected.

And although there aren't any official street parties taking place in the Bradford district, here are a few ideas if you want to go out of your way to ignore the Royal Wedding.

1. Travel back in time

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Members of The Dukes At War re-enactment group get into character

You might think travelling back in time would be the ideal way to ignore the (wedding) present, but think again. Alongside all the usual attractions at this year's Haworth 1940s Weekend, they will be screening the day's proceedings in full. We're sure you can probably skirt around it, though.

2. Mess about on or near the water

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Town cllrs Marcus Dearden and Edwina Simpson with Cllr Michael Dearden get ready for the Bingley Canal Festival in 2016

This year's Bingley Canal Festival is the perfect opportunity to spend some time outdoors and enjoy traditional British pursuits without having to acknowledge Harry and Meghan's big day in the slightest. Although to be completely sure you might need to bring your noise-cancelling headphones.

3. Explore space with the kids

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

In space, no-one can hear you say 'I do' - so why not come along to a free interactive live space-themed show at the National Science and Media Museum? Shows take place throughout the day and are suitable for families with children aged seven or over, and they're free - but you'll need to book a free ticket for hte Wonderlab exhibit first.

4. Take shelter

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

If you want to make sure you're completely isolated from all things Royal, heed the advice of the Jam and go underground. Specifically, to the nearest publicly-accessible nuclear bunker, which happens to be a relatively short drive away in York. It's open from 10am to 6pm on Saturdays, so you could easily avoid the whole day's coverage in here - after all, it was built to keep 60 people alive for 30 days in the event of the end of the world.

5. Enter the realms of fantasy

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: A host of film characters were in attendance at the Comic-con event

Brighouse Civic Hall is hosting its regular Brighouse Super Con, a family-friendly geek convention, from 11am to 3pm, with attractions including lightsaber training and a costume competition. We reckon this is possibly your best bet for avoiding the Royal Wedding - after all, what possible crossover could there be between superfans who'll queue up all night to see a lavish, big-budget epic featuring characters with impenatrable backstories in extravagant costumes... and people who like superhero films?
