A SONOGRAPHER will pound the streets this weekend in a bid to raise funds to transform the children's area in the radiology units at the Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) and St Luke's Hospital.

Rachel Benson, who is based in the ultrasound unit of radiology at the BRI, will take part in the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon on Sunday in aid of the Bradford Hospitals' Charity.

She said: "Radiology can be a scary place for children. "Ultrasound and x-ray rooms are dimly lit and CT and MRI machines are quite large and noisy.

"At the moment, our children’s waiting area is quite old, it has a small selection of toys and it has plain walls. We want to revamp the whole area by creating bright and appealing décor with new toys, which will distract the children, as well as introduce a quiet area for children to rest."
