KEIGHLEY air cadets impressed the town’s MP with their interest in current affairs when he visited their base.

John Grogan spent time with the uniformed teenagers of 2431 (Keighley) Squadron at Keighley’s historic Drill Hall.

The cadets thoroughly enjoyed his visit and were very enthusiastic when it came to ‘question time’.

Mr Grogan said: “It was a great privilege to visit the Keighley squadron of the Air Training Corps particularly in the year we celebrate 100 years of the Royal Air Force.

“The Keighley Drill Hall where they meet every week has a history going back 151 years.

“I was impressed with the discipline of the corps but also with the range of the questions they asked about local, national and international issues.”

Some of the cadets took part in the recent RAF and ATC 100 Parade at Doncaster Cathedral.

The event was attended by more than 1,000 RAF personnel, air cadets, and dignitaries including Honorary Ambassador Carol Voderman and Air Commander Dawn McCafferty, the ATC commandant. The Keighley squadron meets on Mondays and Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm.

Young people aged from 12 (school year eight) interested in joining should go along on Wednesday May 23 at 7pm.
