AN event celebrating the influence of novelist Jane Austen will be held at a Bradford gallery next month.

City Park-based Impressions Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition featuring work by the winners of the Jerwood/Photoworks Awards.

One of the photographers whose work is on display is Alejandra Carles-Tolra - who has photographed a community of ‘Janeites’ who celebrate Jane Austen’s work, dressing up in Regency period clothing and performing activities to keep the novelist’s words alive.

The photos will inspire a Feed Your Mind event being held at the gallery on Thursday, June 7, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

Marilyn Joice from the Jane Austen Society will lead an introduction to Jane Austen, discussing the author’s life and family as well as her famous works and the anecdotes attached to them.

The event is free, and no booking is required.

The Jerwood/Photoworks exhibition runs at Impressions until June 23.
