KEIGHLEY campaign group BANDAG is urging councillors to reject plans for a housing estate and nursing home in the North Beck valley.

A planning application for the development on the former site of Holme Mills, Holme Mill Lane, will be heard by Bradford Council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee on Monday May 14.

BANDAG – the Braithwaite and North Dean Action Group – was among objectors last year when the plans for 102 houses and a 90-bed nursing home were unveiled.

A BANDAG spokesman this week said such a project would go against the council’s Core Strategy which sets out principles for future land use across the entire district.

She said: “Any development along the North Beck corridor should be rejected because there is not a single Core Strategy objective that would meet with any new development!”

The meeting will be at Bradford City Hall on May 14 at 10am.

As part of the proposed development, the long-established Fell Lane scout hut will be relocated elsewhere on the site.

The Core Strategy sets out a framework for development across the district until 2030 and includes a long-term vision, strategic objectives, and detailed policies for several areas.
