Telegraph & Argus Friday, August 22, 1969:
Thursday August 21, 1969, the Odeon’s new innovative twin cinema had opened its doors for the first time. It was a gala opening, attended by an invited audience, that had only been decided the week before by a specially selected committee, including the Odeon manager at the time Mr Derek Mann. At precisely 6.45 pm, some goose pimpled glamour girls in spangled leotards had lined up on the top step of the Prince’s Way entrance joined by winners of the Bradford Top Twin competition 18-year-old Joyce and Irene Staley, to cut two tapes. One for the 467-seater Odeon One and the other for the 1207-seater Odeon Two.
