A record number of people have registered to vote in the coming week’s District Council elections.
The total number that have registered to vote in the elections on Thursday in the Bradford district is 361,325 - the highest since the Bradford Metropolitan District was created in 1974.
Kersten England, Chief Executive of the Council and Returning Officer, said: “Work is done all year round to ensure people are registered.
"It is also fitting that in the same year as we mark 100 years of women’s suffrage we have the largest number of people registered to vote.
"Now people have registered I would encourage them to go out next Thursday and vote and have their say.
"Bradford has a long history of promoting democracy and this is everyone’s chance to take part in this process.”
