A MINUTE’S silence to commemorate the anniversary of the Bradford City fire disaster is taking place next week at the club’s last home game of the season.

The fixture congestion caused by the postponement of matches through bad weather has meant that the last home game is on Tuesday, May 1, against Walsall.

The traditional minute’s silence is in memory of the victims of the fire where 56 people died and 265 were injured on May 11, 1985.

The customary bucket collection in support of the University of Bradford’s Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit will take place at the home game against Southend United which is this Saturday, April 28th.

This is to give as many City fans as possible the opportunity to contribute.

This Saturday’s match will also see a pitch side presentation to the burns unit by 11-year old Georgia Thornton.

Georgia has raised over £1,400 by selling claret and amber ribbons in memory of her grandmother, who died recently.
