THE Ilkley Manor House Trust is now opening the Manor House in Ilkley with the help of volunteers on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 4pm.
Starting from Friday, May 4 there will be a display of Edwardian photos of streets of Ilkley with cyclists. There will also be information boards on the history of bicycles, Ilkley cycling in the past and cycling costumes.
There will be a family fun day on Saturday, May 12 from 2pm to 4pm with a bicycle theme. There will be ten bicycle pictures around the downstairs for children to find with a check card. There will also be a bicycle street scene as a background for children’s bicycle pictures. They will also be able to make pictures to take home.
Also available as usual for families there will be traditional courtyard games to play and costumes to dress up in.
People are invited to leave their memories of cycling in a scrapbook and share their cycling memories. To start the book there will be some pictures of the Shuttleworth family – founders of the Ilkley Gazette - with their bikes.
