RAILWAY stations are being revamped by the community in a bid to reduce vandalism.
Action Stations is currently involved in several Northern Rail projects to refurbish Bingley and Crossflatts stations, to make them look more user friendly and reduce vandalism that blights railway stations along the Aire Valley.
This year's largest project has seen the group develop a five rise locks themed garden with an eight metre narrowboat built on site and used as a huge planter for flowers.
Another project has seen the group refurbish an old tunnel sign.
Derrick Hodgson, chairman of Action Stations, said: "Other elements of the group include encouraging the local community to become involved with projects, sign boards at the front of the station to promote tourist attractions in and around the Bingley area."
