AN ambulance en route to a medical emergency was badly damaged when it was involved in a collision with a car.
The crash, which happened yesterday, has led to police issuing a warning to drivers to be more aware of emergency vehicles on the road.
The ambulance was on its way to an emergency at around 11am and had its blue lights and sirens on when the car is alleged to have pulled out in front of it on Wheatley Hill.
The driver of the car suffered bruising and was taken to hospital.
A police spokesman said: "Please be careful when pulling out on Emergency vehicles with blue lights and sirens. Look, look and look again."
