A MAN has been charged with criminal damage after he defecated and urinated in the lift and hallway of a high rise block of flats.

The man, thought to be homeless, was arrested on Saturday after numerous complaints from residents in the building.

He was arrested, charged with four cases of criminal damage and has been referred to a homeless support shelter.

A police spokesman said: "The communal areas are shared by many and form part of the fire escape route. Human faeces are a real health hazard to others."

PC Chris Cahill added: “Whilst a positive arrest was necessary for an effective investigation and bail conditions, the male has been sign posted to Bradford homeless support shelters."
