A FORMER council run care home has sold at auction for over £120,000 above its guide price.
The First Avenue Children’s Home in Bradford Moor (pictured) recently closed when Bradford Council decided to move the provision to Hollybank Road, also used by Catholic Care.
The authority said the new home had better facilities than the First Avenue building, a seven bedroom detached house.
The Council had put the property up for sale at a recent Pugh property auction, held at Leeds United’s grounds. The guide price for the lot was £250,000, but the property ended up selling for £371,000.
The buyer has not been disclosed.
Two other local lots due to appear at the auction, vacant furniture store 46 Darley Street and a 337 sq metre plot of land on Thwaites Brow Road in Keighley, had been withdrawn prior to the auction starting.
