NEARLY half of Telegraph & Argus readers who voted in an online survey think Britain would be better off economically in Europe – and a majority want to stick with the European Single Market.

A new Brexit survey shows 45 per cent of T&A readers who completed the online survey believed Britain would be better off economically inside Europe.

Just over half of those surveyed said Britain should continue to be part of the European Single Market.

The figures show a split between those who voted Leave and those who voted Remain in the referendum on June 23, 2016.

The split among Leave voters showed eight per cent thought Britain was better off economically in Europe, while nearly a quarter of those voters (22 per cent) thought we should continue to be part of the Single Market.

Remain voters were, unsurprisingly, much more likely to think continuing close ties with Europe was a good idea, with 81 per cent saying Britain was better off economically inside Europe and 80 per cent saying we should continue to be part of the Single Market.

Three-fifths of those surveyed on the site said they were not happy with the status of Brexit negotiations at the moment, with just a fifth saying they were happy. The rest were unsure.
