ECCLESHILL United are looking good for promotion from Division One of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League and they can put themselves on the brink with a win at Hallam on Saturday.

They currently sit second, but they were made to sweat by local rivals Campion in a closely-fought derby at Scotchman Road on Monday night.

Luke Harrop quickly equalised for the Eagles after the home side had taken the lead but it took a late winner from Antony Brown to secure all three points in a 2-1 win.

They face another tough test at play-off contenders Hallam before returning to their home patch to contest their final two games of the season.

The first of those comes against lowly Bolsover, but it is Yorkshire Amateur who travel to Plumpton Park for what could be a final day shootout for promotion.

Amateur sit six points behind Eccleshill in third but have a game in hand on their opponents. The Eagles have a far inferior goal difference too, which could prove vital.

Campion were able to put Monday night's derby disappointment behind them quickly, as they romped to a 4-0 home win over Nostell Miners Welfare on Wednesday.

A scintillating last 15 minutes of the first half set up the win, with Daniel Brown, Graham Hall and Devante Morton all getting their names on the scoresheet before the whistle.

Brown added his second just after the break to complete the scoring and move Campion up a place to seventh.

Campion only sit four points behind Glasshoughton Welfare, who occupy the final play-off spot, but they face a fight to hold off challengers Hallam and Selby Town too.

Both of these teams have several games in hand on James Bicknell's black and reds so the fight for promotion could end up being taken out of Campion's hands.
