A KEIGHLEY cat welfare charity has again drawn on its huge Twitter following to successfully transport one of its felines to a loving new home 200 miles away.

Keighley Cat Care (KCC) had managed to find a permanent new home for a shy female cat called Vienna, who was being looked after by the charity's foster carers.

But as Vienna's new owner lives in London the charity needed volunteers to come forward to take the cat all the way from West Yorkshire to the capital.

An appeal via Twitter saw enough people volunteer to stage a relay to drive Vienna down south on April 15.

A spokesman for Keighley Cat Care said: "Because Vienna was so shy she was often overlooked when potential adopters came to call, so our Twitter family began a mission to retweet and retweet in order to find her a home.

"A lovely lady in London offered Vienna just that and our Twitter friends arranged another relay to get her there.

"On Sunday April 15 Twitter users who are part of our 'KCC army' drove from Kettering to Keighley to collect Vienna for the first leg of her journey. "They then drove her back to Kettering, where she was handed over for the journey to London. Vienna arrived safely and is settling into her new home in London.

"We know Vienna will have a wonderful life with her new human.

"When there is so much cruelty and neglect of animals particularly in our area it is very heartwarming to see that people will put themselves out like this."
