A CASH for Gold shop in Bradford city centre has assured its customers it has no immediate plans to close, despite a planning application being submitted to convert the building into a takeaway.

Last week an application was submitted to convert 19 and 20 James Street from retail to hot food takeaway.

One unit is empty, but the other is occupied by the Tim Hogarth cash for cold shop, which leases the unit.

Mr Hogarth told the Telegraph & Argus that his business still has four years left on its lease of the unit, and that even if the application is approved, there are no plans to close the business before the lease runs out.

The application, by Rajiv Sachdev, says the shop currently employs two people, but Mr Hogarth said it actually employs three.

A decision is expected on the application in early June.
