A TAX consultant from one of the world’s best-known companies returned to his former college to share his success story.

Callum Doherty told students at Bradford College about his journey from A Level student at the college to tax consultant with the global professional services business EY, formerly known as Ernst and Young.

He studied for A Levels in Business Studies, Economics and English Language at the college’s Sixth Form between 2010 and 2012 before moving to the University of Liverpool where he secured a first in Economics.

He told current students about the EY paid work experience programme and encouraged them to apply. He also spoke about the firm’s programme for school leavers, for those looking to move into the profession straight after their A Levels and gave details of EY’s graduate programmes.

Bradford College tutor Alwyn Van Haazel was delighted to welcome back his former student and see him inspire the current accounting students.

He said: “It was great to have Callum come into class and tell my current students about potential opportunities with EY and share his story of his at Bradford College, how he had got on and how he had benefitted from the experience. It was hugely beneficial to the students to see that someone exactly like them had gone on to achieve so much in such a short time and that, with dedication and hard work, they could do the same.

“The student response was very strong with a significant number of students wanting to apply for the work experience. They were truly inspired to try and follow Callum as a role model."
