A RAFT of major planning applications will be discussed by councillors tomorrow.

The Regulatory and Appeals Committee will make decisions on plans for the provision of a car park for Woodlands CE Primary School,Mill Carr Hill Road, Oakenshaw, proposals to turn the former Ivy House Care Home in Shipley into 14 one and two bedroom apartments, as well as an application for a new development on land to the south of Goose Cote Lane, Keighley.

Councillors will also discuss a planning application for the development of a new caravan and cabin park on land to the east of Keighley Road, Silsden, and 142 homes on the former Riverside Works, Keighley Road, Silsden.

Proposals to build 14 homes and a veterinary surgery on land off Ashlands Road, Ilkley, are also listed on the agenda.

Councillors are being advised to pass plans for a car park at Woodlands CE Primary School despite a number of concerns being raised over the development.

A report to the committee outlines: "The proposal is seen as one of the mitigation measures associated with the redevelopment of the North Bierley waste water treatment works for employment purposes.

"A planning application for this development was recently considered by Kirklees

District Council and the relevant committee resolved to be minded to grant that application (subject to referral to the Secretary of State)."

It says the car park would "improve highway safety in terms of the increase in traffic that is likely to occur should the employment development proceed".

However, concerns have been raised about the loss of green land and green belt, as well as the design, appearance and layout of the car park.

The school has also objected to the application based on traffic safety concerns, as well as concerns about the school's ability to fund future maintenance of the car park.

A new housing development land to the south of Goose Cote Lane, Keighley, is recommended for refusal. It would include 100 "market dwellings", as well 30 affordable sheltered houses. A report to the committee says the development would cause harm to the green belt and would be harmful to the character of the landscape. A caravan and cabin park planned for Silsden is also recommended for refusal.

The future of the vacant and dilapidated Bradford Council-owned Priesthorpe Annexe in Mornington Road, Bingley, will be discussed in the afternoon session.

Last August, anyone interested in taking on the building was given six months to put a business case forward.

A report to the committee outlines six expressions of interest have been received, the details of which are not for publication.

It is recommended further information on funding and timescales in relation to two of the expressions of interest be obtained and a report be submitted to the June meeting of the committee.
