ALL five of the Bradford district’s MPs attended a cross-party event to discuss major investment projects this weekend.
The City Hall meeting, which also involved the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Abid Hussain, and the Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Doreen Lee, was an opportunity to discuss transport improvements, including a stop for Bradford on the Northern Powerhouse rail scheme, and the successful government funding award for the Odeon restoration project.
John Grogan, Labour’s MP for Keighley who arranged the meeting, said: "I think it is a number of years since such a meeting took place.
"The idea was simply to demonstrate our joint determination to work together across party divides to attract investment into the whole of the Bradford district.
"The decision on the Odeon shows what is possible.
"In particular we discussed the need to get a high-speed rail station into the centre of Bradford, and also the restoration of the Skipton-Colne Link which would give a new cross-Pennine connection for Airedale and Wharfedale."
