THE three New Look stores in the Bradford district will remain open, despite the retail giant's woes.

Today the chain confirmed it would be closing 60 shops across the UK in the next 12 months, leading to 1,000 job losses.

Locally the fashion retailer has shops in the Broadway Shopping Centre and the Kirkgate Centre in Bradford, and at the Airedale Shopping Centre in Keighley.

These three shops will remain open, despite the wave of closures, and the company recently renewed its lease in the Kirkgate Centre.

Creditors approved a restructuring plan for the company today, and the 60 stores will shut within a year. The nearest store to Bradford to close will be the New Look in The Core Shopping Centre in Leeds.

Kirkgate Shopping centre manager Catherine Riley said: “New Look has been in the centre for nearly 15 years and is a favourite amongst our shoppers. We are happy to say that they recently renewed their lease in the centre and seem confident that their store will continue to succeed in Kirkgate Shopping.

"It’s great to know that Bradford city centre will not be affected by the closures being spoken of.”
