A RE-ENACTMENT of Jesus' entrance to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday is being created in Bingley this weekend to mark the holy day.

The procession, which will include people in period outfits and a real-life donkey, will begin at 2pm on Sunday, March 25, in Bingley Five Rise Shopping Centre before heading to All Saints Church in the town.

At the church, Reverend Martyn Weaver and other members of the church will be handing out palm crosses and you can meet William the donkey.

Palm Sunday, the week before Easter Sunday, was the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem ahead of the Last Supper, and derives its name from the palm leaves which were scattered on the ground in front of Jesus as he rode on his donkey, and marks the beginning of the final week of Lent.
