HOSPITAL bosses will be grilled by councillors over plans to set up separate companies to run hospital services.

Both Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke’s Hospital and Airedale NHS Foundation Trust have announced plans to create “wholly owned subsidiary” companies to run services like estates and facilities services.

Local MPs and workers unions have described the proposed changes as “creeping privatisation.”

Bradford Council’s Health and Social Care Scrutiny Committee meets tomorrow to hear updates from the two trusts on their plans.

The Airedale Trust will give reasons for the planned changes, including details of their ambitions to use the new company to employ more local people.

The Bradford Trust will discuss its intention to present a business case for the changes to its Board of Directors in July.

The committee meets in City Hall at 4.30pm.
