A WHOLE host of events are taking place next weekend and throughout the school holidays to celebrate Easter.

Events including traditional Easter egg hunts and a few more unconventional events will be taking place over the weekend to mark the holy weekend.

There are Easter egg hunt running all over the district, so there will be something local for everyone to attend to celebrate Easter.

While Easter takes place in Spring, the weather may have other ideas this year, as it could bring the snow for the first white Easter in Bradford for a decade.

The Met Office said: “The Easter weekend is too far away to be confident with any details.

“The most likely scenario currently is a spell of colder than average weather, with increased likelihood of overnight frosts, and a greater than normal chance of snow showers, especially in the north.”

The last time it snowed on Easter in Bradford was 2008, when the Easter Sunday fell on March 23.

All Pets, based in Harrogate Road, Undercliffe, is holding a large Easter egg hunt across BD2, BD3, and BD10, with a top prize of a free pet rabbit, rabbit cage and free set-up.

The shop will be hiding 50 cardboard eggs across the postcodes which can be found from Good Friday onwards, and for each egg found, you can collect a free golden egg from the shop.

One lucky person will take home the star prize of their very own pet rabbit, and there is also a silver prize of a free hamster, hamster cage and set-up.

Friends of Northcliffe Park is holding an Easter event in Northcliffe Woods in Shipley on Easter Saturday by the miniature railway.

From 12.30pm there will be a picnic with the Easter Bunny, followed by an Easter bonnet parade at 1.30pm, with a prize for the best bonnet, plus other fun egg related activities throughout the afternoon.

On Good Friday, Beatrix Potter’s loveable character Peter Rabbit will be in the Broadway meeting fans and holding free story time sessions, running every hour from 10am to 3pm.

At East Riddlesden Hall, Easter Egg Hunts will be running across the Easter weekend at the National Trust site in Keighley.

Trail sheets cost £2, with clues leading to the eggs hidden around the Hall gardens, from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

An Easter fair will run across the weekend at Bingley Arts Centre, including Bingley Bake Off on Good Friday with Great British Bake Off contestant Sandy Docherty, egg hunts, donkey rides, street food and a licensed bar.

The Sweetie People shop in Sunbridge Well will be holding an Easter egg hunt and colouring competition across the weekend, from 10.30am to 4.30pm each day.

The South Square Centre in Thornton Road is holding an Easter egg trail and colouring activities across the weekend from 12pm to 3pm, which are free entry.

Shipley Glen Tramway is holding a Hunt the Bunny competition from Easter Saturday to Monday, challenging children to spot rabbits hidden by the tramway, with normal ride fees applied.

Friends of Harold Park is holding its annual Easter egg hunt, bonnet competition and other activities in the park in Low Moor on Easter Monday from 11am to 1pm.

In Keighley, an Easter egg hunt will take place around the town centre in Cavendish Street and the Airedale Shopping Centre with a giant Easter egg for the winner, and prizes for all people taking part.

There will also be face painting at the free event, from 10am to 4pm.

At the Bronte Parsonage Museum, Easter holiday walks will taking place from Good Friday to April 13, an egg decorating workshop on April 4 from 11am to 4pm, and a map making workshop on April 11 from 11am to 4pm.

A range of Easter craft activities are also taking place at libraries around the district over the next two weeks, including making Easter baskets and family play workshops. Away from the Easter themed fun, Bolling Hall Museum will be holding its annual living history civil war day on Easter Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

The event takes guests back to the 17th Century, with cooking, sewing, wood working and a military camp, along with a re-enactment of fighting between the Parliamentary troops and Royalists.
