PLANS to build a two storey warehouse extension to a city centre department store have been submitted to Bradford Council.
Living Islam Department Store is based in Rashid House on Westgate, next to the New Beehive Inn, and sells Asian and Middle Eastern products.
The store says that after branching out online, and recently adding new product ranges, Anaya and Viali, it needs larger storage space closer to the main store. The company’s current storage space is on Thornton Road.
The store currently employs 28 people, and the application says: “The additional extension will provide potential employment as it will free more space internally to accept more employees that will be needed to assist the increase in business load and facilitate operations of the online store.”
A decision on the application is expected next month.
