A DISCOUNT store chain will open its new shop on one of Bradford’s main shopping streets next week.
Pound World is relocating from Kirkgate to a much larger unit on Darley Street, the former Blue Inc store next to Primark.
The Darley Street store (pictured) will be 10,000 square foot, compared to the Kirkgate unit’s 4,000 square foot.
The company announced it would be moving into the long empty unit earlier this year, and the last minute touches are now being made on the shop ahead of its opening, at 10am on Thursday.
It is the first major store opening on Darley Street in several years.
Once Bradford’s main shopping street, the opening of The Broadway Shopping Centre led to many stores relocating from Darley Street to the new centre, leading to rows of empty stores and falling footfall.
